Two tracks for Rubin: a custom Moodle, and the Propel tool around it
Two distinct workstreams for Rubin Education. On Moodle: a custom theme, dashboard, workflow and course format — taken from mockups with proper illustrations through to a working plugin. On Propel (Rubin's own tool): branding, logo animations, Outlook and Gmail plugins, and a dashboard for managing all subscriptions.

At a glance
Rubin Education is a writing-skills practice that teaches early-career and corporate teams how to write at work. The engagement runs on two tracks that share a single design and engineering team — and benefit from sitting under one roof.
Track 1 — Moodle
For the Moodle side we designed and developed:
- A custom theme carried through from mockups with proper illustration work — not a recolour of a default.
- A custom dashboard for both learners and admins.
- A custom course format built around how writing practice is actually delivered.
- A custom workflow that fits Rubin’s pedagogy rather than fighting it.
The flow on this track is mockup → illustration → working plugin, with design and engineering iterating on the same artefact.
Track 2 — Propel
Propel is Rubin’s own tool — a separate product, not a Moodle plugin. We supported Propel with:
- Branding and logo animations for the product identity.
- Outlook and Gmail plugins so Propel lives where the writing actually happens.
- A dashboard for managing all subscriptions, so Rubin can see and operate the entire customer base in one place.
Outcomes
A learning platform on Moodle that looks and behaves like Rubin, and a Propel tool with the branding, in-inbox surface and admin dashboard it needs to run as a real product. Both tracks are in active use.
“The Namers provide quality, dependable service that works within our timeframe. The collaboration is going well, and I like that The Namers provides design services along with website development. It's helpful that you have both in-house.”
